The National Avian Research Facility is curator to a number of valuable chicken lines, descriptions of which can be found within these pages. Some of the lines available represent a considerable investment by BBSRC and other governmental departments over MANY years, with some tracing their origins to the late 1920’s. There is a wealth of data associated with these lines with links to references.
Lines available are of inbred and outbred White and Brown Leghorn, Light Sussex, Rhode Island Red or Silkie origin. In addition we also have available a variety of transgenic chicken lines and other bird lines presenting with a variety of phenotypes. A number of these lines are available from our SPF unit.
If you wish to use any of the lines detailed please contact NARF to determine availability of eggs/birds. NARF can also supply a quote for eggs/birds for inclusion in grant submissions.
